Chess Bot : Improving vertices

So I a working on this basic image processing project and in the last post I wrote how there is a lot of scope of improvement in the initial processing of the board.

I have worked a little on improving the detection of the vertices on the border of the board. Using a little geometry I have got a better result. Here is a comparison of previous result and this result :
